Mia Lee Collection
Mia Lee, a contemporary painter and textile designer from Chicago, creates cartoonish figurative paintings that capture familiar human experiences, relationships, and emotional states. Balancing brightness with heavy themes, her work remains accessible and inviting to viewers. The patterns she designs are drawn from her characters' clothing and transformed into wearable textiles, immersing audiences in her unique world.
Mia’s creativity is inspired by the women in her family: her paternal grandmother was a pianist, her maternal grandmother a seamstress, and her mother a painter and designer. In 2022, she collaborated with Chance the Rapper on "YAH Know," displayed at LACMA, and created pieces for Jordan Brand’s Artist Series, reflecting spaces that have shaped her. Her Urban Outfitters partnership launched a genderless collection, redefining unisex fashion.
Mia exhibits with galleries like Kavi Gupta, Expo Chicago, and at the Brooklyn Museum, aiming to inspire young Black girls by showing them what’s possible. “I want them to see my work in museums and know their possibilities are endless,” she says.
